Ang Mo Kio New Town

It's the local who prefer "AMK" for the acronym of the name of Ang Mo Kio. The old town used to be the site of a Chinese kampong named after the nine bridges that were built to cross small streams, hence known as "kou teow koew". Today the new town of AMK flourished with urbanized concrete tall buildings, shopping mall, road and highways along with a train station for the mass rapid transit (MRT) for electrified trains. A new Plaza had just been completed in 2007 with air-conditioned underground shopping complex that shoppers could shop in comfort.
