[edit] Believe

In English, the word “believe” has three meanings, and only one of them expresses the meaning of this Greek text: If you say, “I believe in angels,” you are only agreeing with the idea that something is true. If you say, “I believe she is in her office, let’s go see,” you are only saying that you have good reason to suspect that something is true. If you say, “I know that John will do the right thing; I believe in him,” that is the sense of the word “believe” that the translator and the Greek original mean here. It means to have faith in a person; it means to have a relationship of trust and obedience.

WE are limited by our mindset..though we can believe and realise ..

Actually eternity and the Now,..is just alongside us..

Just as God who created us for His Glory..

Is alongside us when we allow Him to be our

..our Guide and Friend..

Can U hear his whisper to your heart?

[edit] faith is the evidence and substance of things unseen though not so real as seen by our human eyes

seeing is not yet believing, however believing help U see all things including he future
when U have the eye to see to believe!

“In Science a healthy skepticism is a professional necessity, whereas in religion, having a belief without evidence is seen as virtue.” WROTE American writer Paul Davies and he added, that,

“All science proceed on the assumption that nature is ordered in a rational and intelligent way.”

Illustration: One of my old teachers (from Braddell Rise Primary School) who for years had remembered that he was the first to win the Liverpool football pool (a jackpot:over 70,000 pounds) in Singapore (then, a British colony!) We used to meet and chat a bit, and one evening when he was strolling in Ang Mo Kio area here on the little Island of 4 millions (people) skeptically asked me suddenly "If I ever seen God?" Knowing him for years and still respected him as an old teacher from my school, I can't held but accepted the query challenge to show "proofs" I simply asked him to go jump down from the eleven storey building, and he will be sure to see God too! The point is this: we all have a pair of eyes to see the great wonderful Universe outside us, and within us there is still a great expandable mind as big as the Universe, and we cannot see God? That question (re-phasing it right!) is we may lack understand to believe that God created all. These all is the way God, Himself manifest in the creation, however to show us Himself though it is humanly impossible to see Spirit, and God is the Great Wonderful Spirit too~? That's not the way He ordered the Universe to be! The see-ing issue is not as important as the "recognition" aspect. If you recognise the Great Universe and that great Soul within us all, then you mean you cannot relate to it as evidences and proof of God?

[edit] "Just as they are" is no answer in Science

  • Why is.. that the sunshine never changes it's speed? Yet we know all things changes and dies..why?
  • What's behind all the Sciences, is it mathematical correct to assume "just as they are!" for any or such a clever excuse to answer to what Sciences assumed that all things came to be "without a rational explanation" ?

[edit] Science that assumes "all things came into being just as they are" is a belief too

[edit] Belief and believing

Alien talk 00:00, no date 2005 (UTC) an original article

Believe is not just about religions, it is inherent in all of us to believe. If a person claims one need not believe in anything, that person is likely not normal. When anyone drinks a cup of water, that person need to believe it is clean, and worthy of drinking. If there is any doubt, the person won't likely drink it. It may be full germs and toxic, who knows?

  • Fundamental to life is the fact that we need to believe in order to live. Nobody can survive on doubting , it is very negative and against nature of things.
  • Our whole society is built upon the fundamental rock of belief. The money we all use is a good example. I buy something, a piece of bread and a cup of teh-trek to drink and eat, the vendor does it with a flair and serve me while I wait on a coffee table, and all I need to say is maybe "thanks" when I am served. I don't need to be questioning if that stuffs served is worthy of my trust, and the seller never question whether my money is good or fake! So is everything else when we buy or sells. That's fundamental not only in Singapore, it the systems for society everywhere need to do in order to live.
  • With religions it is different. It is not based upon what is obvious but the metaphysical or the spiritual. Can anyone see spirits? No! not likely_lah! It is just like the Wind. When it blows we can never tell, for instance, up in the high attitudes, there is a wind which blows very, very fast but we cannot tell because there nothing up there to show. Even the clouds are not that high to show!
  • It's like wind blowing in a airless atmospheric vacuum, we won't see anything but we are clever and smart enough to make some instrument which can detect and measure the flow of the wind! However, when the winds blows, we will likely know because we can see the treetops are moving and maybe you feel it when the cool air touches your skin! That's real.
  • Some great religions have great systems of belief. I will never attempt to prove it is not real. Millions follow them. They all believe it is real as can be. Neither will I try to prove that they are not pure. Some of their teachings and moral precepts are so high even the normal people won't be able to achieve such ideals except for gods and holy saints. However, the bottom line of all beliefs is this: will it hold up to what it claims to be when the time comes? What is the basis of its authoritative teachings? If it were from people who created it, then would the people (founders) of such religions measure up to their claims? I have yet met any of the great religious founders since most of them are alive when I am not even born, it is impossible for me to go and ask them. It's a matter of belief.
  • Just as I personally believe my own religion is real, true and based upon the Bible does not means others are false and not true. But it is important to find out for what it is worth our trust. Most people I find don't bother. They leave it to the priests, pastors, and even those religious charlatans to tell them that their own religions are reliable! In Singapore I still find it strange when someone dies, the family would engage the service of a Buddhist group to do their religious thing, and plus some church pastor and members to do their singing and preaching and maybe some more others -whatever they let the religious crowds to do it. It is just like making rojak or some mixed drink concoctions- very exotic and good maybe! Beside it can’t be too wrong, all are good and by chance, one is right, that’s good enough_you know! Perhaps or just another perchance ! like striking the jackpot for Toto

lah!

  • In conclusion, I just want to say it is important to find out before it's too late. Don't wait when you are old and about to die. While you still healthy and living, go get your eternal life insurance , and go find out about what you need to believe! The wise old King Solomon say Remember the days when you are young, go find out about eternal life! Don't buy another insurance when you know the Company won't be paying because it's another of those professional conmen scheming! If it is BIG does not means it is always really true to what it claims to be! There are professional religious charlatans everywhere, check it out!
  • Think about eternity in correct prospective: For only One life t'll soon be Past but only What's done for Christ will lasts!

[edit] Congruity & Incongruity

The acceptance of the existence of God as Creator of the world is like a magic key that fits all the facts of Scripture, revelation, knowledge and science.

[edit] The Names of God and the reasons ‘Why’

Activists wanted God because they believe in their entire peace making process
Terrorists regarded God because they wanted him on their side of the holy war
Believers want God because they all believe in him
Non-believers don't call on God so far away in own their imagined skies because they believe he cannot exist and they dial 999
Religions don’t believe in God that has no names so they created some for their adherents
Now we believe only in technologies because it’s working efficiently without God
Later we believe in Almighty because technologies failed to provide jobs when needed
So we create ideas of God, about Gods and try to believe in God who is ‘Nowhere’

The conclusion, “I really don’t know!”..
Is God =Now HERE or Nowhere?

I know not what I have believed. But I luv to sing it.
Amazing grace how sweet the sound, nevertheless, when I do believe I know…
Unless you truly believe..you will never know!

Actually a believer who accepted the Bible has the holy Bible to believe... I believe the Bible is the Word of God for all needy generations of needy people. To me it's revelation too! TerriUser talk:Terry 01:12, October 8,2005 (UTC)goto see Proofs of God

From the Internet some clever PHD wrote:

  • At TheologicalStudies.org we have grabbed our binoculars and have surveyed the state of the evangelical church. Nine issues stand out to us as ones that are of special importance: ...blah, blah blah..
 goto [[2]] ..

Image:Img0064.jpg

When a shallow believer comes to grips with problems of belief, naturally the person will dig up some microscopes (or loops) or maybe a set of binoculars and try to focus on those issues. Some perplexing issues in theology deals (with a natural study on the topic of God) naturally deal with doubts. Of course one can say correctly that doubts are the exact opposite of faith or believe. Therefore in order to understand rationally what a person’s belief (creed) foundations are based upon (faith is still based upon faith, or history or maybe an authority such as Bible), each will have a set of loops (for seeing things in 10 x times or 20X etc) or a set of bi-focusing binoculars! When they start to examine the tail (of an historic dead elephant, an ancient mammoth and well preserved species of a great specimen, see picture above:) to see what an actual lifelike elephant looks like, what will anyone be see-ing? Amazingly the examiner of the Marco- or micro- details will strongly declare: there is no such elephant! It's just our faulty imaginations!

I laugh. And say to the consistent doubter: throw away your binoculars and 20x loops, let's take a walk and visit the Singapore Zoological Garden - to see if there is such animals: go look for a living real life elephant!

To all my free thinking friends here at Sgwiki:

If you want to find God, today bow down before the Almighty and humbly admit in a silent prayer: Dear God..I know not enough to believe in You, but I know my existence, and my self are an image of your greatness, please help me to believe..

  • Help me, to understand the whys and please show me your own way..

Jesus said, "If any (humble) person will open the hearts(minds) He will come in <and communicate with that seeker there.."

[edit] An Interesting Article

  • Most of us have seen an elephant or two especially when you have visited the Singapore Zoological Gardens in Mandai. I have seen a working elephant in Thailand when I visited that Country. However, I have never seen a white elephant. Among the Thai people that white elephant is rare, but a special one too. The white elephant is treated like loyalty, in fact the white elephant only lived in a special compound all their lives and never need to do any work unlike the normal elephant. The Siamese people respected the King almost the way many religious people worship God because the ancient monarchy has always been a surety of peace and well being for the Nation of Thailand. Therefore, the white elephant always connect with royalty and respect among the Thai. That idea of the white elephant was made into a movie picture with the Story of Anna and the King. It was a mythological white elephant which appeared to save the King from disaster! Would anyone believe that? Of course, it was only a movie! It was a successful story but only make-believe Hollywood setup!
  • There was another story of a group of blind men who had never seen the white elephant because they did not have the normal eyesight we all have. So as the story goes.. They were taken to feel what the great animal look like with their understanding and imagination according with their simple minds.

To one- the great animal was like a tree, another it feel like a snake, then yet another it was shady like a moving fan.. so you see the composite picture put together as in the figure below:

< You many laugh but that the way people believe about God in their own cultural and religious settings. It's always has got to do with the minds and imaginations of the believers. Of course, none of us will ever see God with our eyes but we can feel God and understand that the whole universe exists because of Him who created it..However, when we died we will have to face Him in judgement. That's what most people will agreed too. The Bible and many holy scriptures evidenced the handwriting of God and Jesus claimed to be the One sent as the only begottten Son of God incarnated in human form , see contextualization and incarnation>

Scriptural sense

[edit] Scriptural sense

is still Scriptural sense, not necessary common sense

Preachers has lots of it, however the more popular ones have more common sense .. Scripture has its own sense
don't try to make it as nonsense

When you cannot understand, don't say it's nonsense

A scriptural text taken out of its context may becomes a pretext for any kind of teachings Let scriptures interpret within its context

He upheld all things{{http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0-NPPIeeRk]]..
he upheld all things according to Paul (the writer) maybe not be about Science and modern Biology..It’s about God's overall sovereignty..

[edit] The scripture point to Jesus as the Message as well as the divine Messenger

"In all of these, there emerges an instruction, a way of living. It is not Zoroaster to whom you turn; it is Zoroaster to whom you listen. It is not Buddha who delivers you; it is his Noble Truths that instruct you. It is not Mohammad who transforms you; it is the beauty of the Koran that woos you. By contrast, Jesus did not only teach or expound His message. He was identical with His message” - Ravi Zacharias

As preacher of the Message, it's not to water down the truth as revealed, If Jesus claimed to be divine or God, then he is either a great liar or in reality and truth, he is no less God Himself as incarnated in human through birth, death and the resurrection. Comparison to other religions is for apologetics not for preaching the message of truth.

Churches = assemblies as found in the Bible..>>the word "assemblies" stand for "small assemblies" whereas bigger gatherings or mega churches is a modern phenomena. However the justification of such mega churches stand on a single entity basically to glorify Jesus though such movements are founded and stand to be under the charismatic power of ==the human== standing behind the symbol & name of Jesus? If Jesus is really the Lord of lord, tell us whois in control. Maybe money? of the power of the real Holy Spirit of Jesus? The local leadership takes instructions from whois in control, and seldom it's God's Holy Presence! goto see Marks of cults Goto see scriptures manifesting the reality of the simple life of Jesus' teachings as found in Matthew 6:33...

[edit] Learning about people's cultures has the potential to give us a mirror image of our own. We have the opportunity to challenge our assumptions about the "right" way of doing things, and consider a variety of approaches. We have a chance to learn new ways to solve problems that we had previously given up on, accepting the difficulties as "just the way things are."
