A detainee is someone detained (as in locked up or imprisoned) without any recourse to the Laws of the Country under the constitution. Singapore is one of the authoritarian State with such Acts of the garmen when the ruling PAP tried and carried out detention of more than 100 persons during the early 1963 under operation Coldstore. This was an old British colonial Act in the garmen that allow them to carry on, although such justifications can never be said as "fair" under the Laws of the constitution. Such acts still violate the right and dignity of all Singaporeans

When asked by people about why>? a former detainee said. "Ask Mr. Lee Kuan Yew !"
