[edit] Myths
Myths often are passed down as Grandfathers' stories and grandmothers' tales. In the early 50s and 60s I often heard some of those myths that had passed down from my Grandmother's and mother's despository of tales are related to us as almost as real as in life.
During an eclipse of the moon (when the earth shaded the moon from sight) it was our kampong's way of beating the gongs and rattling tin cans and making as much noise as possible! It was to prevent the moon being swallow up by the wandering heaven Dog, a myth that was passed down from time immemorial! Yes we enjoyed beating all the drums and rattling the empty cans and pails to save the moon! Then finally the Dog throws out the moon and we were able to see the moon again! It was an experience & believeable 2..I never had forgotten!
Perhaps the context of the story and story tellers are important in understanding the belief involving myths. My folks were un-educated as far as going to schools ( girls don't have kind of privilege we boys enjoy -schooling!)and hardly know what’s an eclipse! Such stories were told and retold and past-it-down orally for generations, and the origin of such tales are lost in antiquity.

[edit] the art picture of the Sky Dragon/Dog eating the moon!
There was a similiar story among Taiwanese people who believed the Sky Dog eating up the moon too! [[<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ol5yNUKPohM&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ol5yNUKPohM&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>]]..I guess it 's a very ancient myth!
Myths are not true, but believeable story with almost true to life reality emotions added. So don't believe in all these Myths, and grandmother's stories etc..
For instant Dan Brown is a very good creative author and his million copy seller Da Vinci code capitalised on making myths into realities of the old "Sci-fi" world.
- Almost all religions has myths, and sometimes one find historical truths & realities become mythologised e.g. the Jesus in history used to be a historical reality until higher critics start to mythologise it!
Therefore Dan is a clever creator a new Jesus' image. But is that true in history? Just some trash of a married jesus with hidden children!
- see mythology from wikipedia [[1]]
- Myths though not true, can still be accepted as if it is real in life, for instance, in training and re-conditioning the mind, an idea (myth) can be made real by constant repetitions just as we view advertisements on TVs.
[edit] the Seven Day Adventist spiritualising truths

The pioneer of the religious movement during the early 1880 & 1900s was found by a gifted woman by name of Ellen G.White whose works (writings) and speaking engagements made her estate a great fortune..here are a sample of her works >>[[2]] [[3]]
[edit] In New Hampshire the old devil did a good job of keeping ppl away from churches by creating many cult movements
see & read about Ellen G. White
[edit] short of creating more myths in interpreting the Bible she was responsible for adding more spiritualised truths to it
- she had a ready audience & hearers, she made much out of it 2!

- by taste "having tasted the word of God" ( Hebrews 6 ), it's like trying for the first time! Try durian! You cannot taste without your tongue can you!?
- by smell
A scriptural text taken out of its context becomes a 'pretext' for any kind of teachings Let scriptures interpret within its context
