[edit] Generally Religion

Who would be interested in such a boring subject as religion? (As most Sporeans will admit!)

Besides God, it's Satan..and both in times past are actively seeking to promote their cause without ceasing.
That is the exact reasons for all the conflicts through the AGES PAST
If God is real, then He will seek to promote the true faith, however Satan will do the reverse - with false beliefs!
  • In conclusion, people either get heated up with their beliefs, or become complacient and callous about such important matters. Yet religion is a real life issue, since we need to know for sure why we are here, and for what? Goto see Purpose of life..touchstone..I studied about religions, and it was never dull: Alien talk 07:12, 28 November 2007 (SGT)
  • Generally ppl are interested in their religion when facing death (funerals) or during wedding, that's BTW is the reason the priests and pastors are experts with ..hehehe

[edit] Religion in Singapore

Singapore is generally a multi-religious country, mainly due to its strategic location and the variety of religious beliefs that most Singaporeans hold. 42.5% of the Singaporeans adhere to Buddhism, the main faith of the Chinese population of Singapore, which constituted around 77% of the country's population.

The Singapore census includes detailed data on religion and ethnicity. Figures for religion in the year 2000 are:

Buddhism - 42.5% Taoism - 8.5% Islam - 14.9% Christianity - 14.6% Hinduism - 4% Other Religions - 0.6% No Religion - 14.8%

Most Muslims are Malay, but a few Indian Muslims are to be found scattered among he general Indian population = just like Chinese Muslims

Religious tolerance has been strongly encouraged since the British colonised Singapore; South Bridge Street, which was a major road through the old Chinatown, served as home to the Sri Mariamman Temple (a south Indian Hindu temple that was declared a national historical site in the 1980s), as well as the Masjid Jamae Mosque that served Chulia Muslims from India's Coromandel Coast.

Among other religious landmarks is the Armenian church of Gregory the Illuminator, the oldest church in Singapore, which was completed in 1836. It was also the first building in Singapore to have electricity, when electric fans and lights were installed. However, as of 2005, the church no longer holds Armenian services, as the last Armenian priest retired in the 1930s. Regardless, the church and its grounds have been carefully preserved, and Orthodox Church services are still held in it.

[edit] Religion in practice

Often I seen it that people can tolerate all other of different religions and cultural habits as long it does not violate someone's right to practice their own beliefs. All Singaporeans are a harmonious and respected lot because of their religious and racial tolerance in practice here.

Chairman Mao: Religion is poison. I guess his story is dead by his own account. The people in China do not believe in Mao anymore! & they believe and hope that their pockets were never empty..

Someone believe in Science, does that means he does not believe in any system of belief? Of course he believe in a system too, just short of calling God as Creator. The basic assumption is still a belief that all things works: so please kindly explain ??"Why"??
