[edit] About the name of the Bridges along Thomson Road
Perhaps Ang Mo kio could come from Lord Windsor and his wife (Jennifer) whose 3 children were swept by the flood waters (from sudden opening of Pierce Reservoir overflow flood gates to emptying into the Kilang or Kallang River) Remember the bridge was built when the early (1920s) motor roadways (Thomson Road) was needed over the stony kampong roads. The colonial engineer/s who built so many famous bridges had them names after famous Governors and English residents, yet those small insignificant bridges along Thomson Road had no names at all! It war the locals who named them by way of such terms as Red, Black and White bridges. It was a simple landmark locality the people used to determine an area. The were build by AngMohs therefore their name follows as Red AngMoh’s bridge, White AngMoh’s bridge and the third one as Black AngMoh’s Bridge ( on the 71/2 milestone) along Thomson road . All of them have nothing to do with the folklore of the nice story about Lady Windsor! That Unsed bridge (along Thomson Road 71/2milestone) was never named, and it was simply called as The Starting Point (Head) of Black AngMoh bridge (黑 桥 头 ). There used to be a Chinese kampong with a wayang stage in front of the small temple (demolished) plus several shop houses along the Old Thomson Road before the Unused bride. The vicinity of the kampong area approximately near the newly built Pierce Secondary School and the re-built relocated temple (which is from another area ).

Some stories may include within themselves a story within a story, or even more than two layers.
This literary device also dates back to ancient Sanskrit literature. In Vishnu Sarma's Panchatantra, an inter-woven series of colorful animal tales are told with one narrative opening within another, sometimes three or four layers deep, and then unexpectedly snapping shut in irregular rhythms to sustain attention. Another early example is the One Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights), where the general story is narrated by an unknown narrator, and in this narration the stories are told by Scheherazade.
