Theology

Theology is a discipline studied and pursued in Seminaries and religious schools. Theo means (latin) Deos or originally derived from Greek as in theos meaning God. logos is also the suffix word added to the Theo- , and it is from Greek original meaning "The Word". see John 1:1 "In the beginning was the word (Logos).

Thus the combined word "theology" really mean a study about "God" or the pursuit of the understanding about a system of belief(s) relating to God. As defined you cn study theology at the University where religion is taught and you won't be "Christianize" or proselyte to any one particular beliefs such as "Islamic faith", the "Christian creed" or the "Buddhism" A Christian may study at any liberal art college and choose "theology" a a minor, just as a Muslim may study at a Christian college or school

However when you go to a particular institution with an evangelical bias (such institutions are supported by such evangelical churches etc) you generally will be introduced to their particular belief or doctrine relating to God and their own interpretation of that belief (evangelical faith) including their faith and practice.
