My name is Alien a.k.a OLD Oh! without the <!> please.

I used to lived here [[1]]. It's my old attap dwelling in Mukim 18 of the place known as Ang Mo Kio. Now this is covered by concrete jungle. You won't find my place anymore. Well actually I have an old Map
Close Up Look!
Close Up Look!
. You can go there and see for your self that:- "the map is an old Map before Ang Mo Kio existed". Now I used to travel lots. Places to go and fun only to stay a little while, make sure it's no more than three days. Otherwise one smell like rotten fishes.

I love to do things and travel. Making dough is not exactly making money, but bread-dough for baking. I am good at it. Travel to China=maybe soon, and will attempt <live or died> the conquest of the long silk route as travelled by Marco.

okay! my son need to use the PC, so I go until then

Tea for Chinese~

tea bowl for drinking tea

According to Chinese tradition, the original cup of tea was not invented but discovered in the course of daily affairs by the simple inhabitants in the hills of Min-nan, who found out the secret of preserving the essence of the green tea leaves. It was rolled and dried and good for keeping until when needed.

In modern China, virtually every dwelling--down to the simplest mud huts--has a set of tea implements for brewing a hot cup of tea. These implements are symbols of welcome for visitors or neighbors.

Traditionally, a visitor to a Chinese home will be expected to sit down and drink tea while talking; the Chinese consider having such visits while standing to be uncouth

I call it the root cause of our 5000 years old culture. Actually it's only a drink, ie. I drink hot tea, cup after cups of it without any problem.

"Far deeper than the formal trends of common values in Chinese culture is found with simple plant known as tea. It is an essence discovered by the simple farmers while trying to enhance their tasteless water. Tea is found all over scattered in the many parts of China. Without tea, there will not be any real roots to the real cause of the Chinese culture."

Culture sense is cultivated sense, many may see it as common sense others disagreeing respectfully, may view it as nonsense

My dear fellow Preacher and friend Ruth < former Ruth Thompson>,

  • I just read your letter about some of the church people who left because they were being offended in one way or another by your preaching <or was it a difference in opinion, we all can agreed to disagree, however leaving the church seems too much! >

Regardless of people's feelings, I still think the high calling to preach God's word is still a high calling.

  • I remembered nearly twenty years ago, when I last preached <my last sermon> in my own church in Singapore. I had just graduated with a Bachelor in Religious education, and my Greek and Culture was not exactly rusty when I preached to a mixed audience of high-church people who were doctors, teachers and intelligent people. I also offended their ears but I never left their church, I stayed on for another 16 years and then I left quite suddenly. Although I <was discouraged> did quit preaching on the pulpit but never had really quitted preaching or talking about Jesus and what great things He's done in all my own life. My Greek, Homiletics and Hermeneutics are as sharp if not sharper than those years when I was younger.
  • To day, I am spending some time here at Sgwiki.com an Internet web page <in Singapore> where I do all my preaching and enjoying it too! i have an attentive audience of many people from all walks of life..

My first instance was writing a page in wikipedia.com a very common almost universal among Internet savvy people where they blogs. It was on there at wikipedia where I wrote my first thesis on Biblical Studies <with the bold capitals> then I found wikipedia too constraining with their NPOV <neutral Point of View> so I migrated to Sgwiki.com, a neglected and empty website almost inviting "to come and preach" and so I did.. Was it God's way of encouraging me, saying preach on, preacher?

So preacher when God call us to preach, He did not give anything for rewards except some basic tools to go along with. My Biblical knowledge, exegesis, and the way we preachers ought to "contextalise" are not behind time, and always ready to give an answer for the hope we have in what we, as Christians believe. My training in Bible College was actually my own Sunday schooling, as I never had much when I became a Christian in 1967. If you are interested to read more about it you are welcome to go to Google and search for User:Norman Oh page in wikipedia and try following those links! However, those of us who had been called to preach had a responsibility to tell, and how well we tell it depend upon our diligence in our studies <staying up all night> and how we prepare our sermons. Of course, prayer is the oil upon which we can be fired up on the pulpit, but clear logic along with emotional appeals always attracts attention towards ourselves, yet preaching is to show forth God and Jesus in all their wonderful display. Not just ourselves. So when we preach, there is no need to really get encourage or discourage whatever we've done on the pulpit.

The pulpit traditionally recognized as a hallowed place to speak for God <expositions on God's word> is now a common place to preach human philosophies etc.. In the U. K. I seldom heard God's word exegeted or preached in all the glory except when reading Martin Lloyd Jones, Campbell Morgan, Spurgeon's old sermons. Has the Spirit of God nothing to say about the issue of life’s in U.K. or had the Christians allow the old devil to package out the truth of the Word found in everyday life of the Christians or believers and followers of the Way?

So Preacher, go on, preach the Word....

Regards,

Norman Oh a.k.a Alien
