Anyone wanna tell us WHY?
Yes..see below:
[edit] Under new changes
Updates: The YCK include all areas in the Ang Mo Kio central where all dirty unfinished road works, NTUC SLF building project cum bus termninal ..this where a lot of negative feedbacks had caused the garmen to chew it out from the GRC into a SMC..reported by our reporting alien on his faithful bicycle rounds in AMK...[[User:Terry How|: Terri talk 01:12, October 8,2005 (UTC)]] 13:40, 2 May 2006 (SGT) With effective in March 2006, Yio Chu Kang became a SMC acronym for Single Member Constituency under the government electorate gerrymandering during an election year in Singapore. Yio Chu Kang has been a hotbed of opposition voters which the ruling party deem fit to separate it from the larger Ang Mo Kio GRC another acronym for Group Representative Constituency. goto see [[3]] from wikipedia sources...
In Singapore's electoral division structure, Yio Chu Kang has been part of the Ang Mo Kio Group Representative Constituency since 1991. Following the government's re-drawing of electoral division boundaries in March 2006, Yio Chu Kang will become a Single Member Constituency at the upcoming general election, expected to be held in 2006.
The opposition National Solidarity Party has indicated that it will field a candidate to contest the newly formed Yio Chu Kang Single Member Constituency. This will be the first time that its residents are voting in the general elections as Yio Chu Kang SMC.
The whole Single Member Constituency presently consists of Blocks 119-128, 201-220, 601-649, 628A, 632A, 700A-C, 701 -718, 720 -730, 710A are former part of Ang Mo Kio GRC Group Representative Constituency has never been contested before as Yio Chu Kang. The candidated MP <in the figure> was a walkover MP <winner without contesting in an election contest> like the one in Kebun Baru under Mr. Inderjit Singh. Someone in the papers call them virgins<politicians who contest the first try like maidens speeches see figure of speech>. Most of these selected flats from those blocks in the HDB estate are not upgraded among most Garmen blocks and en-block upgrading programmes in the larger Ang Mo Kio area, and voters likely to be unhappy. Therefore, they are likely selected and being chosen to be a Single Member Constituency for the next election 2006 with the view of not affecting the general outcome of the election results should there be a contest for the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong own GRC in Ang Mo Kio area.
- The Yio Chu Kang Gardens is not part of the Yio Chu Kang SMC area, neither those along the stretch of old Yio Chu Kang Road from Thomson Road junction to upper Paya Lebar Road.
[edit] The new Alliance Parties
For a long time it seem good to find opposition parties fielding more candidates ..so we have a better chance to vote:
- The Alliance is made up of four parties - the NSP, the Singapore People's Party, the Singapore Malay National Organization and the Singapore Justice Party
